A long ODI match, some poor cricket and a comical end; that's the story of the 1st ODI game between India and West Indies. At the end of it all, India find themselves 1-0 up in the series. There are 4 more games to go, and let's hope they are equally entertaining. Until then, it's goodbye from us here. Good night!
Rohit: Idea was to play throughout the innings and get India through. Very disappointed that I wasn't able to finish it but we won in the end, and that's what matters. Myself and RJ just wanted to get the singles and we knew that with the dew in place, we could get the runs easily. He batted well and gave me good support. Vinay Kumar also batted brilliantly. A couple of Ranji games helped and I was just waiting for the opportunity and I'm very glad that it came at the right time, and happy that I helped the team from a tough position.

Rohit Sharma is the Man of the Match for his 72 runs.
Sehwag: I was sitting on one seat and didn't get up till the match got over. This is the 2nd time we have played a nail biting match and it's good to be on the winning side. Whatever you say to the number 10 or 11, they will do only what they want to do, so it's no use telling them anything. RJ and RS had a good partnership and the lower order contributed well, especially Vinay. We have to learn from our mistakes, our batsmen didn't do well but the bowlers did.
Sammy: Every loss is disappointing but the coach always tells us to create opportunities and we have been doing that. Today we again fell short of the finish line. We all knew we didn't bat as well as we should have but we fought hard. The bowlers gave us a very good start and we fought all the way down to the wire. When you look back at the game, we come up with a lot of things which we could have done differently. We gave too many extras, but we have a never say die attitude and it will take us a long way.
What a match this has been. India started the chase in an explosive manner and every one would have thought of an early finish, but WI bowlers came back strongly and especially Russell struck 2 important blows to leave India reeling at 59/5. But Jadeja and Rohit Sharma stitched an all important partnership for the 6 wicket to bail India out of trouble. But once Jaddu got out to a loose shot, WI found the opening they wanted. Rohit Sharma and the tail-enders found it hard to score on this slow wicket, but two quick wickets towards the end spiced up this boring match as WI sensed a win. But poor bowling changes cost Sammy the match as Umesh and Aaron held their nerve to finish it on a high. Stay tuned for the presentation....
48.5 Sammy to Umesh Yadav, FOUR!!, what an unbelievable match this has been, India have won a humdinger here, it was full and on the stumps, Umesh Yadav gets forward and drives it past the fielder to long on, the fielder at mid on didn't even attempt to stop it and once it went past him, it raced away to the boundary, Rohit Sharma is a relieved man and this tail-end duo has clinched it for India
48.4 Sammy to Umesh Yadav, no run, fuller length delivery just outside off, Umesh Yadav initially wanted to play at it, but withdraws his bat at the last minute, well left by him
48.3 Sammy to Aaron, 1 run, another short and wide outside off, Aaron pushes it towards backward point, Polly dived full length to his right, but couldn't stop it, they get a single
48.2 Sammy to Aaron, FOUR!!, is this the decisive hit? short and wide outside off, Aaron reaches for it and cuts it past the fielder to square third man, it was well hit and the deep fielder had no chance of cutting it off, just 4 needed now
48.1 Sammy to Umesh Yadav, 1 run, this time he's taken the single, this is surprising, angling into the pads, Umesh Yadav clips it to backward square leg, there was a slight fumble in the deep, but Aaron had over-run
