M.TECH.  in  Energy studies and Environment Management

(Admission on First cum First Serve Basis)

The Centre of Excellence for Energy and Environmental Studies (CEEES) is a University Teaching Department under the Faculty of Non Conventional Energy Sources & Environmental Studies. The Centre offers Ph.D, M.Tech (ESEM) and M.Tech (Renewable Energy) Degree Programmes. These highly specialized degree programmes supported by well equipped laboratories and infrastructure provide the students rich avenues to become scientists, entrepreneurs, industrialists, potential consultants and technocrats.

A drastic increase in environmental pollution across the globe because of use of conventional sources of energy like coal, petroleum and natural gas had lead to various research and development work.

In this course we not only deal with environment but also cope up with renewable sources of energy.

Thus you will be benefited for two courses in one stream i.e. environment as well as energy.
You will be eligible for giving UGC-NET in Environmental Science.

Why students should take this course?

India has witnessed an exponential growth in renewable energy sector (bio-gas, solar PV (off-grid), solar thermal (both off-grid and on-grid), wind, bio-mass (on-grid) and bio-mass gasifier) achieving a total installed capacity of 17,174 MW (excluding large hydro) as on 30.06.2010 (Source: MNRE Achievementshttp://www.mnre.gov.in/). The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), Government of India which has been pioneering this activity, has plans to facilitate further growth to achieve the vision of ‘affordable and reliable clean energy’ to every citizen of the country. The rapid growth in this sector would require an extensive pool of competent manpower (knowledgeable and skilled) to design, install and maintain the Renewable Energy systems.

This M.Tech (Renewable Energy) programme is also supported by HRD scheme of MNRE. One-time infrastructure fund (Rs 50.0 Lacs) is also provided by MNRE to the Centre (CEEES) to upgrade their infrastructure (labs, working models and library) and also to provide scholarships to PG students who are opting for this M.Tech (Renewable Energy) course and GATE fellowship is provided by AICTE for those students who are opting M.Tech In (Energy Studies and Environment Management).
